Hi,
I have a PCI-8335 card in a Dell Optiplex 780. When I try to do a cold boot up, i.e. computer has been off for a couple minutes at least, I get an error that the graphics card is not recognized by the computer during Dells hardware check (which happens before even posting) and it stops here until I either turn our NI bus off or unplug the optical link.
I have tried exchanging the graphics card, mainboard, power supply, and used two different PCI-8335 cards, but i still get the same error. I can reboot the computer without any problems, but then have trouble to get the computer to recognize the optical link to our PXI-1000B Bus (which has a NI 435x, 6025E and a GPIB card in it) and I will have to follow very specific steps to get it work properly. Have any similar issues been reported with this card or such a setup?
Thank you very much.
Cheers,
Ben

There are some MXI compatibility issues. It sounds like you have gone through many of the first common troubleshooting steps. All of these are detailed in the MXI-3 and MXI-4 Troubleshooting Guide. Your situation sounds like Problem 1, and the only other thing to try is to remove all of the PXI cards and try to boot up with an empty chassis.
Sometimes the issue is due to BIOS compatibility. Be sure to update your BIOS for the Dell Optiplex 780. Older versions of some BIOSes do not always enumerate PCI devices correctly, and that sounds like what is happening since the motherboard reports the device as a graphics card. If you have already updated the BIOS, you can also try the MXI-Express BIOS Compatibility Software 1.3, which has manged to fix the gaps of some BIOS issues, but it should be used after updating the BIOS.
