Resetting SC-2062 if power is lost to computer.

I am running an application where I am using a PCI-6503 to control an SC-2062. I need the relays on the SC-2062 to go back to their original states if the computer crashes or is shut down. I was told that this would happen if the board looses power but my board does not loose power if the computer is shut off. My co-worker spoke with someone in tech support who suggested using windows to configure the PCI board to reset if power to the computer is lost or using new "watchdog" products available from NI. I'm not sure how to configure the PCI board to do this. Can anyone help?

Hello,

Watchdog timers are available on newer digital I/O boards. If you look here, you will see a table that lists which cards support watchdog timers.

Since the watchdog timer is part of the hardware design, there is not a way to implement this on some of our older boards, such as the PCI-6503.

Hope the helps clear things up!
