SCXI Opinions Here

What is everyone's opinion in general or specific on the SCXI chasis with the 1582 (RTD Module), 1102 (2Hz filter for T-coup's and RTD signals), 1102B with the resistors for conversion to voltage inputs from 4-20mA devices?  I am looking at using these items with the latest version of LabView and plan on attending the Basics I & II courses and I am looking for some personal feedback on experiences that people have had with this setup.

Thanks all!

Hello Mike,

I believe you mean the 1581 module, but besides this everything looks good to me.  You will have to configure the terminal block that you are connecting to the 1102 (insert/remove resistors for 4-20mA measurement), however it should not be too difficult.

There is lots of information in the manuals to help you configure your device.  On top of this you documentation like this to help you configure your system.

If you are not familiar with LabVIEW taking the LabVIEW Basics I & II course will give you a great base for starting your application.  Also, if you know you are going to be setting up this system when you attend the course, be sure to let your instructor know.  The instructor should be able to provide you with some tips, and help point you in the right direction.

So then from you experience with this system you are saying that you would recommend it for use in a laboratory environment?

Mike,

The SCXI is in general considered the best NI solution when you require signal conditioning (i.e. when using thermocouples).
