Sansoray 2255 with labview

I have LV 2011 and Vision 2011 and I am trying to use a Sensoray 2255 4-channel frame grabber with very little success.  I have the driver installed from their website, and have tried all the steps with the windows driver and DirectShow driver.  The device always shows up in Device manager under "sound, video and game controllers." They have a small program used to capture from the channels, which I have been able to use easily to prove that the computer can see the framegrabber well.  I am just not sure how to set it up in MAX and LV.  I am trying to avoid using the .dll files, and I have found lots of documentation that LV supports DirectShow with IMAQdx.

Hi,

You are correct, IMAQdx does work with DirectShow compatable cameras.  Have you installed the Sensoray driver as well as the Vision Acquisition Software?  Once you install all of the drivers you could try removing the card from the computer, deleting in Windows device manager, and then reinserting the card.  This should make it be recognized corectly by the Vision Acquisition Drivers.

Hello, I was wondering if you ever got the Sensoray 2255 working in your Labview?  We just received one for a project and wanted to use Labview to control and interface.  Did the advice help, any tips?

Hi NGPORT,

Have you already tried installing the device? If not, one tip would be to install the drivers before you actually connect the hardware. The steps that Greg-H recommended above are good general guidelines to follow if you are having issues as well.

Hi, I'm having exactly the problem posted by the OP: The Sensoray 2255 does not show up as a USB device and therefore cannot be recognized by IMAQ.  The 2253 works just fine, so it seems it must be the way in which the drivers are configured.  I have tried the suggestions above without success.  Any other ideas?

For whatever reason, the Sensoray 2255 has two drivers: 1) "Native" and 2) Direct Show. Windows always defaults to the native driver, at least from my experience. You have to download the Direct Show driver from sensoray and install that in place of the native driver. Then it should work for you.
