Suitable Data Acquisition Card for High Speed ADC

Hi

Don't know if this is the correct category to issue my topic.

My name is Ioannis Gouzouasis and I work as a Researcher at FORTH (Foundation for Research and Technology, Greece).

During the next months, I'm asked to characterize a customized High Speed Analog-to-Digital Converter, and I'm trying to find a way to grab the data from the output.

The given facts are: 1) Output will be 14 differential channels (not sure if LVDS), 2) data rate can be as high as 300MHz (but there is a decimator on board, than can drop the speed to half), 3) there is a tektronix connectorless socket onboard for the logic analyzer probing.

I might have a problem using my logic analyzer, because it does'nt support differential output.

I want to help me, whether any Data Acquistion Card by NI can do the job (for example, I was looking for the NI 6562). I don't have quite of experience in using these cards, so please mention me the required specifications that need to be covered.

Thank you

I. Gouzouasis

Hi Loannis,

One thing you will want to look at/consider is the synchronization between the DIO card and the ADC you are testing.  Do you currently have a clock set up for the ADC/input to ADC that you would like to synchronize to the sampling card, or does the DIO card need to supply a clock to the ADC?

The 6562 is definitely an option.  You might also consider the 6583/5/7 adaptor modules for FlexRIO cards (these cards use an FPGA).  Note that the FlexRIO cards would require FPGA programming which may add some complexity to your project; however, you would have more flexibility for future projects.
