Switching rate of 9481

I am using the 9481 throught the cRIO.  The specification states that it can only switch at 1 second intervals.  Without tying a load to the relay I created a simple loop that toggles the relay output at 5 hertz..  The LED seemed to blink at an appropriate rate.  My question is what exactly is the maximum switching speed of the 9481?  If I can switch faster than what the specification states what are the dangers (if any) of doing so?

Hi kjkhkh,

The 9481 is designed for the 1 Hz rate. Faster rates may be possible with smaller loads, but will likely reduce the life of the module by wearing out the relays. The larger the loads are made the shorter the life of the module will be if used at rates higher than the 1 Hz rate from the specifications.

I hope this information helps.
