Trying to use DIO 24

I'm using Labview version 8.2 and trying to use National instrument's DAQ DIO 24 to control the relays. I've found an easy way to write the vi for this purpose in the "Learning with the Labview" book. I don't see the DAQ solution wizard in the 8.2 version although i remember i used to get this in version 6. Can anyone tell me how to get DAQ solution wizard in version 8.2. Also I'm looking for 'Digital I/O palette' in the FUNCTION palette which i used to get in version 6. Can anyone also help me find this palette. Thanks for your cooperation.

Hi bidmc,

There have been several improvements made to the DAQ driver since LabVIEW 6, including the addition of the DAQ Assistant. Travis G. in this Discussion Forum thread explains the DAQ Assistant very well and provides links to some useful resources.

Make sure that you have your DAQ driver installed. The Digital I/O palette is located in the Traditional DAQ API, which is different than the newer DAQmx API. I highly recommend using DAQmx. You can download the latest version of both drivers for free at ni.com/support or by following the links I provided above.

I recommend checking out the Developer Zone Tutorials: Learn 10 Functions in NI-DAQmx and Handle 80 Percent of Your Data Acquisition Applications and Transition from Traditional NI-DAQ to NI-DAQmx in LabVIEW. There are also dozens of examples that are included with the DAQmx driver that can be found in the Example Finder in LabVIEW by going to Help » Find Examples… then browsing by Task to Hardware Input and Output » DAQmx.

Post back if you have any questions. Have a great day!
