Wire mapping for SHC68-68 cable, as I need to modify, please.

I would like to modify a SHC68-68 cable by removing the destination connector and fitting one of my own.  Please supply the wire mapping information (including the wire colours), so that I can create the wiring schedule.

Thanks,

Jon H

Ummmm.   Perhaps you could determine that by empirical means.. to wit.

Tools and materials

1 DMM

1 Wire stripper

1 Knife

1 Cable cutter

Optional- 1 SCB-68 breakout board

A) take existing cable and cut it 6-10 cm from the end you want to replace

B) remove 4-6cm of outer insulation from portion to discard

C) remove  1/2 -1cm of insulation from each conductor.

D) use an ohm-meter to test connectivity from each pin to its associated wire.

Of course, the easier way is to use the SCB-68 and wire its outputs directly to your new connector.  Smiley Happy

Thanks for both of those suggestions.  Unfortunately, the SCB-68 breakout board is too large for my application and I was trying to avoid having to buzz out the cable.  I was hoping that NI would have a published wire mapping, as they seem to have for most of their other cables.

Hey Jon,

Here's an early holiday present:

I'll try to have someone post this online after the first of the year, but this should get you started.
