connect digital signals to NI USB-6341

Hallo,

I have three digital signals from simple switches, with two cables each. I want to connect them to the NI-USB 6341 but i am confused. In which physical channels should I connect? I tried i.e. for one switch to connect one cable to Channel 81 (PFI8/P2.0) and the other to Channel 82 (D GND) but without success.

thanks for your help,

theodoros

Hi Theodore,

connect one cable to pin 65 (P0.0) and its reference to pin 82 (D GND). Accordingly 66 (P0.1) and 67 (P0.2) to 84 and 86 (D GND). All D GNDs are internally connected, so choose what fits best to your cables. You can even attach all reference cables to pin 82.

Take a look at this video:

Hi,

sorry for taking so long to reply. In the end i found out that you need a 5V digital input for this  device.

the -not so elegant- sollution is to program a digital channel to constantly give 5V output and connect it to the signal input channel (if it is just an open close contact, like in my case) .

but this sollution is ok if you have digital channels to spare (you need 2 digital channels per signal), otherwise you have to use an external 5V power supply which you will connect with the signal in parallel.

thanks,

thodoros
