daqpad 6507 with virtual machine

I am trying to use the NI DAQPAD 6507 in a Windows XP Professional virtual machine (32 bit). The host OS is Windows 7 64 bit. I can see the DAQPAD but it just doesn't seem to want to talk...at least not properly. Anyone have any experience with this or any ideas?

Thanks.

Hello Skeptical,

I've made some research about this and I've happens that DAQ devices are not supported in virtualized OSes like Windows XP Mode. This is because the way USB communication is handled on virtualized OSes is typically only optimized for Human Interface Devices or Mass Storage devices and not devices that require much higher performance, such as USB DAQ devices.

Here some references:

Hey guys, the DAQpad-6507 communication chip most likely does not support 64-bit OS, the same as the few DAQpad's that were supported by DAQmx.  Further, the 6507 was only supported in NI-DAQ a.ka. Traditional or Legacy DAQ (T-DAQ).  Although NI did release Traditional DAQ 7.5 for Winodws 7/8 32-bit in 2013, it does not support 64-bit OS's.  Thus, I would suspect that the 6507 is not going to be properly supported by the host Win7 x64 OS, which means it can not be passed through to the virtual machine.

I was suspecting the 64 bit host OS. I think I will try to use a 32 bit host and see if that works. Thanks to both of you for your replies.
