digital i/o card selection

Hi,
I need help in selecting a digital i/o card for the following application:
I have a microcontroller eval board with a keypad and lcd attached. I want to emulate ( replace )the keypad and lcd by using a PC and a digital I/O board.
The bus speed of the eval board is up to 8MHz.
The type of signals involved are TTL, basicaly control
lines both ways and a 8 bit ASCII data for lcd.

I would like to use a NI 6503 ( for cost reasons ) but
the speed may be too low.
Should I use a NI 6533?

lv_user,
Try our online Product Advisor: http://amp.ni.com/dd/jsp/ddconfig.jsp

Using this utility you can compare costs and specs of our digital boards. The key items to consider are:
1. speed - the 6503's typical rates are 1-10 kbytes/sec
2. cost - only you know your budget
3. operation modes: strobed vs. unstrobed I/O - the 6503 will only perform unstrobed (static) I/O
4. number of channels needed - range from 24 to 96

If you need immediate assistance in selecting a board, or have questions when using the utility, just click on the "Get live hlpe now!" link that is located on almost every product page.

Have a great day!
