will LVTTL drive a RC Servo?

Hi,

I am looking at a 9381 multifunction module for cRIO application, but I need it to drive two RC servo motors.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Typical RC servo specs say 3-5 V for control signal. 9381 says the module provides LVTTL digital signal.

Thanks!

Digging into the specification, I would say that you will need a buffer.  The spec says that it will put out 2.7V @ 100uV.  Do a search on Digikey for a digital logic buffer that can handle the current you need.  You might also want to get a buffer that can take the 3.3V as an input and output 5V.

Hi jphsteele,

Are you using brushed  or brushless servo motors? We do make servo drive cRIO modules. The NI 9505 is a Full H-Bridge Brushed DC Servo Drive Module, and the NI 9502 is a Brushless Servo Drive Module. Both of these modules also require a power supply connection to provide enough current to the motors.
