About the current measurement of 4071

Hi

I used NI 4071 to measure an ac current source, and NI 4070 recorded the voltage of the same points at the same time to check whether these two signals have any relation. Surprisingly these two waveforms were exactly the same. I am wondering if anything wrong in my setting. And I have another question that’s about how 4071 record current signal. For example, does that record the voltage signal between two points at first, and then divide by the impendence to get the current waveform or the input current is feed through to a integrator convert the current to voltage? I tried to find the document of 4071, but I can’t find anything about how the operation is.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

David.

Surfing,

For information on how the 4071 DMM takes current measurements, you can open the Help file and use the path: Devices >> NI 4071 >> DMM Measurements >> DC and AC Current. You'll see values for the shunt resistors used for different ranges. The DMM's burden voltage will be in the specifications.

I hope that helps!
