Can't install NI-DMM on RT controller

When I try to install NI-DMM 2.3.1 for LV RT on an 8176 controller, I have 2 problems.

1. I have installed NI-DMM 2.3.1 (which I just downloaded from NI site) but RT software installer says that host has 2.3.0 but MAX says I have 2.3.1 ( Ihave rebooted host PC and Refreshed MAX).

2. When I try to install 2.3.0, it tells me that I need a dependency LabVIEW RT 7.1 but I upgraded and have LabVIEW RT 7.1.1 installed.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I would really hate to have to go back to 7.1

Thanks.

Hello RGSchmidt,

We are aware of this issue, and NI-DMM driver addresses this behavior in NI-DMM 2.4.x (which should be available as web download very soon). In the meantime, there is a work-around that will enable you to install NI-DMM 2.3.1 to your RT target.

- On the host, locate nidmmCal71.cdf in "\National Instruments\RT IMAGES\NIDMM" directory.
- create a back-up of this file
- Use notepad (or some other text editor) to change "7.1" to "7.1.1" on line 14 of this file. This change will allow you to install NI-DMM on the LabVIEW 7.1.1 RT target.

I forgot to mention something in the previous posting specifically relating to updating to LabVIEW 7.1.1 and LabVIEW 7.1.1 Real-Time. If you have not done so, please review the "readme" notes for these updates. you can find them at ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/labview/updates/windows/7.1.1/readme.html and ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/labview/labview_rt/Updates/Windows/7.1.1/Readme_RT.html.

Thanks.

That allowed me to install.

Maybe those instructions should have been placed in the Knowledge base before.
