GPIB: PCIe versus USB

We have recently bought a PCIe GPIB card to use with Agilent DMM 34401A and we realized that the return reading of 100 samples is slower in comparison with a USB GPIB connection to the DMM.

The ratio is like 60 seconds versus 15 seconds with a use of USB GPIB.

Is there any setting in the PC that we could set to expedite the performance of a PCIe card?

As it really puzzle us that a USB is better performers than a on board PCIe.

Hi gelb,

I agree with you .But  PCIe-GPIB will typically be slower for smaller transfers (<16 bytes) than for larger transfers. You may try to increase yout GPIB performance by refering to the folllowing tutorial links
