NI-DMM Error after Labview7.1 upgrade.

I have upgrade my software to Labview 7.1 and now I have big problems with the control of NI-DMM 4060.See attached file. First time I can control my DMM, but after that I got problems with the external code called by a Call Library Node. What can I do to solve this problem. I have tried to reinstall Labview without success.

Hi Christer,

To better narrow down this problem I need a few details.

1) What is your complete hardware setup? PXI system? Embedded PXI controller? MXI interface? Or is this a PCI board? If it is PXI, what chassis do you have and any other boards that are in your chassis. If you're using a MXI interface or have a PCI board, what type of computer are you using?

2) What National Instruments driver versions do you have installed? Specifically NI-DAQ, NI-DMM, IVI Compliance Package, NI-VISA?

3) Did you previously have LabVIEW 7.0 installed? And if so did it work fine with 7.0?

4) Have you tried any simple NI-DMM shipping examples such as "Measure DC Volts.vi"? Does the problem still occur?

Thank you in advance for this information. It will
help us in narrowing down the problem.

Hi Erick,

This is the information you asked for.

1) I have a PXI-1006 chassis with following PXI-boards:
PXI-6533, PXI-6070E, PXI-6704, PXI-5112, NI-5411, PXI-2565, NI-2503 and a PXI-GPIB.
The PXI Bridge is NI PXI-MXI-3.
I'm using a Dell Optiplex GX260, P4 2.4GHz 512Mb RAM Win2000.

2) The driver versions is: NI-DAQ (7.2.0f1), NI-DMM (2.2.1), IVI Compliance Package (2.1.1) and NI-VISA (3.1)

3) Previously I had LabVIEW 6.0.2 and it work fine. I also tried to uninstall it and only install LabVIEW 7.1 without success.

4) I use the shipping example DMM Measurement.vi in my verifications.

Finally, this morning I recognized something. When I disable the RESET in niDMM Initialize.vi
the DMM work, but if I do a RESET(default) th
e VI vill halt next time thereafter I run the VI.

Thank you in advance.

Christer,

Erick is out of town for the rest of this week. I am familiar with your issue however and I am in the process of gathering equipment so I can try to reproduce your issue. I will be in contact and probably have further questions.

I'll post tomorrow with my progress.

Christer,

I would also like to know if you have tried the latest version of NI-DMM. I have a dell optiplex also across mxi-3 to a pxi-4060 and have not had a problem. I am using NI-DAQ 7.3, ivi compliance 2.2, NI-DMM 2.3.1, and NI-VISA 3.2. You can get to each of these downloads at www.ni.com/downloads. If this does not repair the problem, I will continue to try and reproduce the problem.

Christer,

We have tried reproducing the problem on one machine here with no success. I am going to continue trying this with another machine.

I would like you to try the attached VI to see if it has the same behavior. Try putting a delay between the loops and enabling each wait sequence. This has worked for another customer. Then try reducing the waits to as few as possible and disabling as many of the waits as possible.

Thanks,
-Adam
