What is the easiest way to sync up two NI 4071 DMMs?

I have two PXI-4071's that I'd like to sync up to measure at the same time. (I also have a 6653 in slot 2).

What is the easiest way to hook up these two DMMs so that they can measure simultaneously? Can you give an example?

Would PXI Star, using the 6653 be a good solution, or is that overkill? (Also, how do I know which PXI_Star line corrisponds to each DMM?)

Thanks!

I had the right idea. PXI Star triggers were the way to go

Star 0 = PXI Slot 3

Star 1 = PXI Slot 4

Star 2 = PXI Slot 5

Star 3 = PXI Slot 6

Star 4 = PXI Slot 7

Hi Phillip,

Star triggers are the way to go for sharing triggers between devices. You may also want to take a look at the following KB.

PXI-407x DMM Synchronization Q&A

The important thing to keep in mind in that even though you are sharing a trigger, your not sharing a time base, so the DMMs may drift over time, especially if your doing different tasks with each DMM.

Good work solving your own issue!
