How can I reliably detect when the analog input on my PCI-4451 is out of range for the gain setting?

I was hoping to use Config_DAQ_Event_Message to establish notification when event 3, Voltage out of bounds, occurred but this doesn't look like it is valid with a DSA board. I tried it anyway and received a, 10695, DMAnotAllowedError, error.

Is the only way to check the reasonableness of the input?
