How to synchronize PCI 4472 and PCI 6733

Hi, we are using a PCI 4472 in a desktop for vibration signal DAQ. Now we are planning to expand our system using a the two counter/timers and analog output channels on PCI 6733 along with the PCI 4472. How can I synchronize all the channels on the DSA PCI 4472 with the two counter/timers and one AO channel on the PCI 6733?

Thanks.

Hi John,

First off, to synchronize these two PCI boards, you are going to need a RTSI cable.  Do you have one?

https://www.ni.com/en-us/support/model.rtsi-cable.html

After that, DAQmx comes with a bunch of shipping examples that will help you out.  If you're using LabVIEW, check out Help >> Find Examples... >> Hardware Input and Output >> DAQmx >> Synchronization.  This whole folder could help you out, but the first one, Multi Device Sync - AI and AO - Shared Timebase and Trig-DSA.vi might be the best for you.

There are also C examples and such in the NI-DAQ folder of your Program Files tree.

Thanks!
mike
