I am going to use a USB-9234 to measure the vibration of a machine, which can not be accessed directly. The USB-9234 is attached to the machine and my laptop is 50 meters away from the machine (therefore the USB-9234). Can I use a "USB 2.0 extender over Cat-5" to extend the connection to 50 meters from USB-9234 to my laptop? Has anybody tried this before?

Hello,
We can't recommend or guarantee proper functionality/results since your set up (or similar) has not been tested. An alternative solution would be connecting your module to an ethernet CompactDAQ chassis e.g. NI cDAQ9188. A single CAT 5E cable connected can reach 100 m before needing a switch or router to carry the signal farther. Also, please review the following datasheet for detailed information regarding this product.

You could consider a fiberoptic USB 2 extender. They do exist and will operate as if the device is right next to your PC.
