Preston,
At the recent Vibration Institute Annual Meeting just finishing up, there were a number of presentations on virtual instrumentation, and informal discussions with NI and people who analyze vibration, some with LabView. Enough people supported the idea of a discussion forum for machinery vibration that the idea may be viable. To make this work we need some volunteers to assist in moderating the group. This would involve spending time in the various related discussions, and letting NI know which would be applicable to this new group. Also we need a core group of folks who will contribute to the group, answer questions, post vi's, etc. Sort of a cadre of "Super Users". I have volunteered to start the conversation. If you will e-mail me and let me
know what you can do to help, I will assemble a list of folks and their ideas and contributions and contact NI with a plan. My initial idea is to get some volunteers to go through the different groups and develop a list of what would be applicable and then get with NI to set up the group with some initial discussions to sort of "prime the pump", and then we can continue this discussion in that forum. If you, or anyone else is interested in supporting the group (i.e. volunteering for work), please e-mail me a hmaxwell@apsc.com.
The Vibration Institute is willing to assist by putting a link on their web site vibinst@anet-chi.com. They also have a discussion group on vibration.
