Overview

This VI demonstrates how to calibrate a meter and read the position of the needle using NI Vision Development Module.

 

Description

This example shows how to use the NI Vision meter reading VIs to read the position of a needle. These VIs are useful in many applications such as the calibration of speedometers and gauges. Supply the VI with a picture, a starting reference, and a reference point on the image. As the image reference point (in this example, the meter needle) moves, LabVIEW determines the reading on the meter with respect to the reference point.

 

Requirements

 Software

  • LabVIEW Base Development System 2012 (or compatible)
  • NI Vision Development Module 2012 (or compatible)
  • If running in a Real-Time context, you will need the LabVIEW Real-Time Module 2012 (or compatible)

 Hardware

  • No hardware is necessary to use this example VI

 

 Steps to Implement or Execute Code

  1. Download and open the attached ZIP-file
  2. Open the VI and follow the instructions inside
