Example Code

HUMERS - I/O

HUMERS stands for Heterogeneous Unmaned Mobile Evolutionary Robotics System.

The basic idea is to develop a group of diverse (hetrogenneous) robots that are mobile and communicate with each other and possibly several cooperating sites.

The robots are expected to evolve mentally (knowledge), physically (hardware), and socially (awareness and cooperation).

We have played with robots using

  - different brains (SBRIO, Parallax' Propeller, MC68HC11, PIC, LEGO NXT, etc.),

  - different type of sensors (sonar, IR, compass, accelerometer, GPS, Temperature, Humidity, Position, Speed, IMUs, optical encoders, cameras, etc.)

  - different actuators (servos, DC motors, heater, etc.),

   - different communication media/devices (XBee, serial, IR, sound, Bluetooth, WIFI, etc.)

In the process we have developed (or used someone elses) VIs, Objects, Code (drivers) for some of these components.

We are planning to organize a group of these tools for the public to use.

As a companion with the tools there will be tutorials on how to use them.
