Counter VI Question(GTS)

Hello,

This is just a generalized question about Counters for FIRST purposes.

What kind of signal does a Gear Tooth Sensor requre?(Such as Voltage Potential Change)

I am having a problem with my GTS not counting at all. I am pretty certain I have taken all the necisary steps in Labview to get it to work. I also know that the voltage jump I currently have is not high enough. For said GTS, the voltage jump I see is only about 0.7V (I checked this with a NI breakout box).

Hi Jovanus,

The NI 9403, which is where the signal will eventually end up, requires TTL signals. On page 11 of the PDF you can see the specifications:

At least some of the gear tooth sensors that FIRST has given us in the past have required both 12v and 5v power. If you have one but not the other, you might see the type of problem you are describing. You should verify the electrical connections per the datasheet of the sensor you are using.

If you are using one of the sensors from a previous FIRST kit, realize that it would not be legal this year as it is not commercially availible.
