FRC 2012 Imaging Tool failure

Hello all, I am attepting to flash a cRIO with the 2012 image using the 2012 FRC imaging tool. It always fails after a few minutes with error 56 and this trace:

Unable to complete operation because of unexpected error:

Error 56 occurred at TCP Read in NI_InternetTK_Common_VIs.lvlib:TCP Read xTP Reply.vi:4->NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP Get Command Reply.vi:3->NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP Data Send.vi->NI_InternetTK_FTP_VIs.lvlib:FTP [STOR].vi->ConfigUtility.lvlib:2012_FTPSubFolder.vi:3->ConfigUtility.lvlib:2012_FTPSubFolder.vi:2->ConfigUtility.lvlib:2012_FTPSubFolder.vi:1->ConfigUtility.lvlib:2012_FTPFolder.vi->ConfigUtility.lvlib:ReImageTarget.vi->ConfigUtility.lvlib:Dialog.vi

Possible reason(s):

LabVIEW:  The network operation exceeded the user-specified or system time limit.

Some things I have attempted without success:

Using both crossover cable and switch to connect to th cRIO

Setting cRIO to 10.xx.yy.2 and PC to 10.xx.yy.6

Setting cRIO, PC, and switch to subnet 255.255.255.0

Disabling PC wireless adapter

IP reset of cRIO via DIP switches

Using MAX to reformat, folloowed by FRC reformat with cRIO in DIP switch safe mode, then imaging from FRC 2012 Imaging tool

Booting PC in safe mode with networking to prevent firewall interference (MAX stops responding when searching for the cRIO on the network in this case)

Using MAX to load bare bones NI RTOS and bypassing FRC tools (result is cRO in "Safe Mode - Improper Installation" despite the MAX dialogue appearing to complete installation successfully)

I am really at a loss at this point, does some kind of networking issue remain? Any assistance with flashing the cRIO would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Logan,

Which version of the imaging tool are you using? This was an error we saw on certain computers with the first version of the imaging tool.

With the first version of the imaging tool, enabling all your network cards, and disabling any firewalls usually fixed the issue but the second version of the tool is more robust so I would start there if you don't already have it.

I'm fairly certain I was already using version two, but I applied the utilities update and got the same result. Any other ways to deal with this?

Hey Logan,

I would try turning on the wireless adapter on the laptop.  I would also try connecting through the DLINK router. Other than that I am not sure- we didn't see this problem at all that I know of with the latest utilities update. If you have another computer you can put the imaging tool on give that a shot.

I don't have acces to the FRC install materials anymore, but a fresh, trial install of LabVIEW & MAX successfully put something on the cRIO. Thankfully that's all I need, since I'm trying a non-FRC related project in the offseason. Thanks for your help, I suppose my install had some idiosyncracy the imaging tool or cRIO couldn't handle. I was the lucky first one to have the problem!
