There seems to be a lot missing when I try to install LV on my computer, rather than the FRC version, I seem to have just the LV version 8.6.1 without robotics. Let me say that I’m a programming mentor, started in the 2010 season so have used “FRC Edition 2010”. I also own a registered copy of LabVIEW 2009 on this computer and have been programming in LabVIEW for about 4 years. When the season started I noticed that the license for the FRC version 8.6 had expired and nothing seemed to work on my own 2009 version. So I uninstalled v.8.6, obtained the CD “NI LabVIEW 8.6.1 for FRC2011” and installed it on my computer.
First of all the screen does not look like the one shown in the Framework tutorial. Instead of having a FRC Edition 2011 yellow caption with the FIRST logo, it simply says “Licensed for Professional Version”, like the copy I own. The topics on the right are also quite different, missing any reference to robotics. On the left side any reference to FRC is absent including cRIO Robot Project. When I opened a new VI and went to the libraries, there was no Robotics Library to be found there.
Do I have the wrong s/w, is my LV2009 conflicting, or something else wrong?

Hi Paul,
It's not a conflict with 2009. I've installed and both theLV 2009 and FRC 8.6 and they both work correctly.
The FRC Edition 2011 doesn't show up on the LabVIEW opening screen until you install the LabVIEW FRC updates (found on the Software Downloads on the www.ni.com/first)
I'm not sure why the LV 2009 and FRC LabVIEW don't work together. When you say "Nothing worked on my 2009 version" does that mean you can't open it? Or can't create Vi's or LV Projects? Is there an error message.

Hi Joe,
Thank you for answering my query so quickly, and on a Sunday!
Okay, I found the Labview FRC updates and I’m downloading them now.
As for the other problem I’m having, when I have tried to open any of the FRC vi’s on my 2009 s/w, I can’t get the sub-vis that are located in a location “:\Robotics\ . . .” It searches and searches not finding it and then a dialogue box comes up to say it wasn’t found so I press and it goes to look for the next one. When its through I end up with a partial program with all these boxes with an X in them. I assume that :\Robotics is a server somewhere that only gives access to computers with registered copies of FRC-Labview. It would be nice if I could open these files on LV2009, then I would only need that version of LabVIEW and I could use some of the other tools that I have with it for helping the guys with LabVIEW.
Okay, so it finished downloading a large zip file, which I put in the C: drive. I tried to unzip and let’s see what happens.

The FRC support VI are only loaded under your LabVIEW 8.6 directory. I you wish to do what I think, you will need to manuly copy the FRC support VIs over to your LabVIEW 2009 directory. Do a mass compile to up convert them from 8.6 to 2009.
Then do you have LabVIEW Real Time add on for 2009 or 2009 Vision? Without the 2009 versions of these add-ons I don't think you will get the FRC code to run in LV 2009
