Hey everyone,
Our team is currently trying to install the LabVIEW software given in the 2010 kit of parts. We haven't been successful on any of our laptops.
Installation stops when it gets to Vision Assistant Hot Fix (part 7 of 10 when we only selected the LabVIEW stuff for installation). The progress bar freezes; after a long wait, we eventually cancel and end up with only LabVIEW 8.6. According to the directions, instructions are supposed to come up. Yeah, that doesn't happen for us.
After we cancel the installation, we're left with an evaluation trial of LabVIEW 8.6. We cannot activate it. The serial number L13R00000 doesn't work for us. Furthermore, while following directions to activate (open license manager, click activate), FIRST Robotics Competition doesn't show up in our list. We can't actually activate FRC because it comes after Vision Assistant Hot Fix during installation (the part that freezes on us), and we can't change the order of installation.
Is anyone having similar problems? Any ideas what's going wrong? Thanks.

Hello,
It is very rare but it is possible that you could have some bad installation disks. I will discuss this with R&D tomorrow but in the mean time there are a few things that we can try.
Can you try to copy the contents of the installation disks to your computer and then run the installation from there? If that does not work is there another team near you that you could borrow their installation disks? If not let me know and I can check tomorrow to make sure that we get some new disks sent to you as soon as possible.
Please make sure to keep us updated and I will update you as well.
Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply, Bob.
We finally figured it out- we were trying to get LabVIEW on our school computers (the laptops that the school system gives us), and they have numerous blocks and such that prevent any student tampering. We tried putting it on another laptop (not one of the school computers), and it worked. So I guess it's now between us and the help desk at school- we'll have to convince them to install it for us.

I could not register LabVIEW either, using the M73X71502 license found on the pouch (a very familiar NI license number type). Are we supposed to use something different like L13R00000 ?

Yes - use the L13R00000 serial number you are instructed to use in the instructions for the update.

Hello Norm,
I was just notified that the known activation issue has been fixed. You should be able to activate using your serial number now. However, if you are not able to activate using that serial number please let us know and then feel free to activate with L13R00000.
I hope this helps! Have a great day!
Thanks!
