Using NI USB-6009 with the 2010 Driver Station

Does anyone have any insights as to how easily the NI USB-6009 USB multifunction I/O system could be used as an I/O device with the 2010 driver station software? ( I believe the USB-6009 uses NI-DAQ mx drivers).

The Driver Station uses a Cypress module for I/O. What do you want to do with the DAQ?

John1732,

Just like sciencewhiz mentioned, there will be USB supplied I/O for the 2010 Driver Station, so depending on what DAQ you are trying to do you should be able to use the provided hardware to get the job done. What are you wanting to do with the USB-6009? Also, The required DAQmx Drivers for the USB-6009 are not provided with the FIRST Software Package.

Ben and Sciencewhiz,

Thanks for your interest - Basicaly, we're looking to add controls such as switches and potentiometers to the operator interface. While the 2010 USB I/O interface purportedly will feature 4 analog inputs, 8 digitat inputs, and 8 digital outputs, we're interested in advantages the USB-6009 could offer over that one such as:

1) 8 analog inputs, 2 analog outputs, a counter/trigger input  and 8 bi-directional digital I/O channels.

2) already mounted in a case, with strain relief for the USB cable

3) has detachable screw terminal blocks

We also happen to have a USB-6009 on hand along with the NI-DAQmx drivers. We're just wondering if (and hoping that) the driver's station software could easily be modified to communicate with this device.

Note: Power requirements are 5V @ 200mA. I've attached the User guide and specifications.
