Will FRC Labview 2010 run correctly on 64 bit Win 7?

I've heard various answers to this.  I have installed the FRC version  on my laptop which is running 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate, and it appears to be working correctly although I haven't really done anything other than open some windows, and create a project etc..  It is a 32 bit application, but the laptop is already running a lot of 32 bit applications without issues.  Obviously it would run "better" if I had a 64 bit version of Labview, and I see that Labview has announced a 64 bit version but I suspect that the FRC version will only come in a 32 bit flavor.  The reason I ask is that I'm purchasing some new laptops for the team, and they will be preloaded with 64 bit Win 7 Home edition.  I might be able to downgrade but I'd rather not have to mess with it.

Any definitive answers out there???

Hi Michael,

There is a 64-bit version of LabVIEW. However, you'll see that many of the LabVIEW modules/toolkits that are included with the FRC version are not supported in the 64-bit version. Therefore, we'll be using a 32-bit version again this year.

That answers the question of which version we're going to get, but  I'm really more interested in knowing if there are any issues with running the 32bit version of Labview on a 64 bit OS.

Thanks

well, i use 64 bit computer and it runs fine.

WHY???   Because 64 bit computers also can run 32 bit.

for instance if you open up "My Computer\C:\" you will find "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)"

All of the 64 bit software is installed under "Program Files" while the 32 bit is under the "Program Files (x86)"

The names of them might be different (im running windows 7). But by looking at the file name you can probably figure out which one os for what.

The key here is while application software can run, system software including device drivers, system dll's etc are not so forgiving.  I'm running Windows 7 x64 and while I installed, and have successfully deployed code using the provided labview, l I was looking for conformation from the vendor that it had tested it in this configuration and that it worked.  And by work, I mean that there aren't hidden gotcha's that are directly related to running a 32bit application on a 64bit system.   So far I haven't run into any issues, and so I'm going to assume that it's ok.
