Did you mean:

expires soon

We are having trouble with an

error message that states our version of labview is expiring. We purchased a kit of parts that included software for labview. When we attended a scrimmage we were told it was the wrong version because it did not included the proper templates. What gives?

Hi Dr Gadget,

I am sure we can get you up and running quickly, but first please answer these couple of questions.

  1. What FIRST competition are you participating in?
    1. This season's (2010) FTC uses LabVIEW 2009 with the NXT Module 2009 and the FTC Toolkit 2010.  The NXT and FTC software can be downloaded here.  The LabVIEW software CDs were included with your Kit of Parts.
    2. Last season's (2009) FRC software used LabVIEW 8.5.1.  The licenses used for the 2009 season of FRC will expire in early January 2010.  The 2010 season of FRC will be using LabVIEW 8.6.1, which will not be released to teams until kick off.
  2. When you receive a message that LabVIEW is expiring when you start LabVIEW are you sure it is actually LabVIEW that is expiring or is it Application Builder?
    1. Assuming you are competing in a FTC tournament you will not need Application Builder and the serial number distributed to FTC teams does not activate Application Builder and you can ignore the dialog window.
    2. Please post a screen shot of this dialog window you are seeing.

For FTC the LabVIEW template code for Autonomous and Teleop programs is installed with the FTC Toolkit, and are found in the Templates folder within the FTC Examples folder.  On Windows a shortcut to this folder is installed onto your desktop.  Here is the full path to the templates.

  • Windows
    • C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\examples\FTC Toolkit\Templates
  • Mac Os
    • ~:Applications:National Instruments:LabVIEW 2009:examples:FTC Toolkit:Templates

I hope this information is helpful.  Please post any questions or concerns you may have and we will respond as quickly as possible.

Cheers,

Mark
