FBUS-HSE/H1No Network Status

My HSE/H1 Linking Device was working fine but now it doesn't seem to work.  The H1 Port Status lights are off.

Here is a little background which may have nothing to do with the problem except they occured at the same time.  Recently I had a problem where the PC running my appilicatioin HMI using OPC and Communication Manager 3.1 locked up due to running out of virtual memory.  I suspect a memory leak in the Communicatioin Manager.  I have had this problem where the memory usage would keep creeping up the memory usage until I would get running out of virtual memory message.  If I shut down the Communicatioin Manager, the memory usage would drop significanly to the point where I first started.  If I started up the application everything would be fine for a week or so and then the same problem.  This time I was away for awhile and upon return the PC was so locked I had to pull the power plug.  Upon trying to restart the Communication Manager I would get a meesage that the port was not avaialble.

The H1 Port status lights were out.  I rechecked all connections.  The Monitor was showing a Probe Node going to the device which should Dead but no response from the HSE/H1 Linking device.  I did a reset the the Linking Device but this had no effect.  Is my unit really dead?

Hello,

Would you please let me know the status of the other LEDs? If the Ethernet LEDs are in proper status but the H1 network status LED is off, the most probable reason is that the linking device didn't successfully get an IP address through the DHCP server. Please try to restart the linking device (power off and then power on) and force it renew the IP address.

Hope it helps and please feel free to let me know if I could do more help for you!

The Linking device had a valid IP address and I could ping it.  All LEDs seemed normal except the H1 Port status LEDs were off.  I beleive these LEDs will only come on when the Communication Manager connects.  After many attempts at power cycling and starting the Commuincation Manager I was finally able to connect to the linking device with the Manager.  Once I was able to  start up the Communication Manger without any errors, the LEDs (Port Status) started blinking.  I am using Version 3.1.1 of the Communication Manager.  At this point the system is up and running and communicating normally.  Is it possible there is a problem with this version of the Communication Manager.  I do see the memory usage climb as the application runs for some time (week or two).

Nice to know the HSE-LD works now!

Thank you for your report on the memory usage problem. This should be a problem within the Communications Manager (CM). We've occasionally encountered this problem before when we run this application for a very long time or execute some particular operations. But to be honest, it is not easy to reproduce the problem. We will investigate it further, and anyway, we're sorry for the inconvenience!
