Fieldbus topology

For one of our ongoing Refinery project, We have to select Fiedbus based DCS & Topolgy for open as well as close / control loop appliations.

For our Fieldbus Topology, more than one FNICO certified power supplies / repeaters/ barriers will be multidroped to connect more than one segments in to one common network.

My specific queries are..

1) Has anywhere before such type of fiedbus configuration has been used ?

2) Any effect on balance network due to failure of any one FNICO Power supply ?

Well,

There are some things in the "Best practices" for FoundationFieldbus Segments. One of them, is not drop the segments. Is easy: The segment current will depending of the load (devices) you put (Normaly 320-350 mA as full load).

If you install multidroped repeater/power supplies / etc. When someone goes down, the rest will be not enough to maintain the segmen working.

May be you think in redesign your segments and balance the load depending of the type of device and the distances.

And....What DCS are you using? (I'm ask you that because some of them have Remote IO, then you can install your H1 card in some Remote IO).

It is is used to operate sensors and actuators via a centralized controller in production (factory) automation applications. The many standard diagnostic options, in particular, are focused on here.. The much faster DP acts as a backbone network for transmitting process signals to the controller. This means that DP and PA can work tightly together, especially in hybrid applications where process and factory automation networks operate side by side.
