Hi,

found another small change: the HTML command for strike-through text changed from <del> to <strike> as I noticed while correcting my signature.

Btw.: when do we get "Rich Text" editor for the personal settings pages (like for signature editing)?

Best regards,
GerdW

Last night a change was made for Display settings set to Small - the bolding of boards with unread messages should be more noticeable now.

The number of characters displaying in the subject line of a post when viewing a board has been increased.

The Chrome issues of large font disappearing after posting and strikethrough not working are confirmed bugs.

The URL insertion box issue with key focus placed on the link text field instead of URL text field has been confirmed as a bug.

I will review all of your latest replies and get back with you later today.

Thanks,

Laura

Hi Everyone,

Just finished reading through your newest replies:

  • Seems like latest comments module in the Idea Exchange is being voted off, so I will remove that (give me a few days please).
  • Ray - I think I understand the link issue.  You paste in the link in the normal editor and then switch over to the HTML view to edit the text of the link. I've reproduced the behavior and will submit it.
  • I will check on these editor items: hanging indents, missing indent editor buttons, if there is a length to macros now, horizontal lines
  • Jack - I will report the IE8 Kudos in Idea Exchange problem.  I feel like IE8 in general is bad about right click and open in new tab, I've noticed it on other sites as well.
  • The new search experience isn't turned on yet, that section in the help was supposed to be removed, my apologies.  Roberto - I am not sure if your questions will be addressed within that experience, but I will check.  I have a decent amount of work to do before we can turn on the new search, so it could be a little while before you see it on the forums.
  • Roberto - the gray background will be removed later this week.
  • Ben - still working on the tagging changes.   Image insertion has been reported and was confirmed as a bug.  If you are uploading the image from your computer you won't see the problem, only when you are using an image from your gallery as you mention.
  • I will suggest Rich text editor for signature editing

Thanks everyone,

Laura

More editor annoyances/bugs/why did this change when it was perfectly fine:

  1. Macros are being cut off/mangled. Is there a limit to the length of the macro? Didn't used to be one. For instance, I have this text in a macro:

To learn more about LabVIEW it is recommended that you go through the tutorial(s) and look over the material in the NI Developer Zone's Learning Center which provides links to other materials and other tutorials. You can also take the online courses for free.

When I use the macro drop down I get this:

To learn more about LabVIEW it is recommended that you go through the tutorial(s) and look over the material in the NI Developer Zone's Learning Center which provides links to other materials and other tutorials. You can also take the _

I set up the same macro and successfully used it in both Firefox 3 and IE8:

To learn more about LabVIEW it is recommended that you go through the tutorial(s) and look over the material in the NI Developer Zone's Learning Center which provides links to other materials and other tutorials. You can also take the online courses for free.

Does it look OK in your My Settings?  Or am I missing something?

My brain is so used to these types of messages, long quote followed by "To learn more about  LabVIEW..." that for a moment I thought that Laura was recommending that smercurio could use the tutorials....Smiley Very Happy

The macro looks fine in my settings. This the actual macro content:

To learn more about LabVIEW it is recommended that you go through the tutorial(s) and look over the material in the NI Developer Zone's <a href="http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5054">Learning Center</a> which provides links to other materials and other tutorials. You can also take the <a href="http://www.ni.com/academic/lv_training/how_learn_lv.htm>online courses</a> for free.

I noticed that if I insert the macro when in HTML mode it works fine. When I'm in "Rich Text" mode it gets chopped. It appears that the Rich Text editor is converting the "<" in the second link to "&gt;", and doing the same for the other ">".

  • Ray R - do you have font set in the browser somehow?  I also use that version of firefox and that text size setting and can see board names as bold when there are unread messages.  The font in your screenshot definitely looks different from what I see.  Also, what is your monitor resolution?  I'm not certain what you mean about the HTML tags, you can still edit your message in HTML form so I think I'm missing something.  I think your unexpected error was due to a bad link in a message that has since been corrected. I have not noticed the cursor disappearing.  Let me know if you notice something that causes it to happen.

I have found an instance when the cursor disappears: Resize the editor.

Laura, are you involved also in interface localization? I would suggest some improvements in italian translations but I don'k know where to list them: here or opening a specific post in the Italian board?

Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.
