Attachement files not appearing

Currently the list of valid files to attach are:
jpg,gif,txt,xls,vi,zip,doc,bmp,llb,pdf,png

Can the forum support TestStand sequence files?
*.seq TestStand

Other to consider are:
*.c CVI
*.h CVI and MSVC
*.cpp MSVC
*.cs MSVC7 C#
*.vb MSVC7 VB.Net
*.ini Configuration

This is not a problem, just an ease of use issue...

Scott Richardson (NI) -

Thanks for the suggestion. I have added the file extensions that you have mentioned.

Please let us know if there are others that would be helpful.

Thanks!

It is not quite clear to me why we even need a restriction to a small set of allowed extensions. (The only reason not to allow a certain extension would be if it is dangerous in some way. But these days, even a .jpg could be dangerous to an unpatched system ;)).

It is up to the downloading system if the extension is recognized and how the file should be handled.

If anything should be highly discouraged, it would be .bmp! They are typically gigantic (several MB) even for small images that would be less than 100k as .png or .gif. Some people are probably still on dial-up.

Anyway, under the current system I would also allow .gz (gz compressed), very popular for linux etc.

Hi Molly !

I just found that the .scr (vision assistant script files), probably the smallest operational attachments, have to be zipped before being posted. Since I have not solved yet my problem with files larger than 26 ko, I feel persecuted. 😄

Joyeux Noel et Bonne Année !
