Board Subscriptions

Board subscriptions don't seem to work the same as subscribing to categories on the old forum.

On the old one, when subscribed to a category, you would only get a notification of new topics and any threads you subscribed to. Here, you also get notifications of replies to topics that you did not specifically subscribe to. Is there a way to change this behavior? I'd like to be able to just get notifications of new topics and threads I subscribe to.

You are correct that the board subscriptions have changed to include notifications for all messages rather than just new threads.

I will investigate what it would take to allow a user to choose to be notified only for new threads.

Good News!

You now have the option to subscribe to New Threads Only or All New Messages when you subscribe to a board.

This option is available from the Subscriptions tab in your forum profile.

If you choose All New Messages, you will receive notifications for each new post made to the boards you are subscribed to.

If you choose New Threads Only, you will only receive notifications when a new question is asked the boards you are subscribed to. Remember that you can choose to subscribe to any of the individual threads in the board and be notified on each new post to that thread.
