When I try to embed an image on Android and select from the album, I get a red "Error code: invalid file type" and it does not work.
(File was a simple screenshot ~80k, cropped using the Google photos tool).

It works for camera images in the album.
Steps (after cropping the image).
Android 8.1.0
Chrome 80.0.3987.18 (beta)
(I'll attach the file later from mobile)

Sorry, can't. When I select the image as attachment, it shows fine, but when I try to post, the page refreshes, the post is still in edit mode, and the attachment has disappeared.
Permissions: Chrome is allowed to access "storage" among other things)

OK, I e-mailed me the picture and was trying to attach it here on Windows:
Zipped it up.... see if this attaches. Haven't studied the file in binary, but maybe the google photos crop tool might create a file in a unique png flavor? I'll play around with the file...

OK, we can blame the photo editor on android (google photos). It actually creates a JPG file with a PNG extension. 😞
Even LabVIEW cannot read it as png.
But if I use "read jpeg file", it works!
Regular browsers display things just fine, even if the extension is wrong, but the "forum file validator" insists that filetype and extension match.
Valid security measure? Too restrictive?

In summary
On android:

It is very important to me that I can attach cropped images. (Full phone screenshots are wasteful and might contains private info not relevant to the discussion!). We need to find a solution. (... and no, I don't want to clutter my phone with other image apps!)
