Change in behavior of links in messages

I just started noticing that when I click on links in messages that point to other another thread, the link opens within the same window. It used to be that the link would open in a new tab (using Firefox). Nothing changed in my Firefox, and I see the same behavior in IE. Was something changed?

WHen inserting a link, you have a choice (look for the "Target" entry). Somehow, the default has changed a while a go.

I agree that the default behavior should be the other option. (open in new window).

(I would never really notice, because I am a habitual shift-clicker anyway when using IE. :D)

Well, that makes sense. I never paid attention to the Target option since the behavior of the link was always "open in new window/tab". My own personal preference is for the link to open in new window/tab, but perhaps there was a good reason to change it? Maybe it's to adhere more to "typical" link navigation?
