Close parenthesis displaying as smiley faces makes code difficult to read and copy

My posting at http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=330&message.id=22047&jump=true has close parenthesis and they appear as smiley faces on my system. Is this a known issue or something with just my system?

example1("hello", "world")

example2("hello", "world" )

It appears to be when a " follows a ) character in the html.

Feature request (however I don't see why anyone should post alphanumer code :smileywink:

Maybe a code box (just like IPBoards).

Scott,

You can make a change in your forum preferences so that emoticons don't display unless someone has purposefully inserted an emoticon using the insertion box.  Set Emoticon Type to None in your preferences.

Thanks,

Except that the new insertion box is a real pain to use. Smiley Wink

I gave this kudos and then realized that that wasn't enough to show I much I agree with this, so : I AGREE WITH THIS.

Laura, the new editor still sucks (and that includes all the popup windows it has). The older one was easier to use and worked faster, and personally, I would prefer that you reverted back to it if possible.

Laura -

As a user this solution is not obvious and might be frustrating to customers when trying to read postings. Thanks for letting me know. My initial thought is that the option should be on the writers side, not on the readers. Maybe make the default for new users None. Thanks...

I'll second that!  Or maybe I'm technically third.Smiley Wink   (Note 7 seconds to wait for that to emoticon popup to load, blink at me a few times, and finally get to a point where you can click to enter it).  I want to say it was only 1-2 seconds under the previous editor.  I also find with this one, if you click on something before it's completely loaded, it will freeze at a point where you can't insert one.  Then you have to X out the window and start all over again.

This was brought up when the upgrade was first rolled out, and taken up again by Ravens Fan with a good point about the other "faces".

I would prefer to see all the classical "typed" smileys, except for the "double-quote + right-parentesis". This one is just silly and redundant.
