Cursor dissappears when typing into message window

I do not know if this is related or a separate issue. If I copy and paste into the message window, the cursor disappears after the paste and anything typed does not appear. I need to manually click inside the window after paste so that I can continue typing.

Just copied the line above from Ray's last message to confirm.  This seems to happen every time. I am not sure when this started but it has been occurring for a while.  Mac OS X 10.6.7, Safari 5.0.5.

Seems similar to what I reported here long ago.
