Does the reply window have to steal focus?

Laura, when waiting for the reply page to load, I sometimes go and do other stuff. However, the browser window has a very annoying habit of jumping to the front once all the images are loaded and you can type in the message body field.

Is there any way to turn this off? I don't like my computer deciding that it knows what I want to do better than I do.

Hi tst,

I agree, I also am annoyed when web pages steal focus.  How long does it take for you to load the reply window?  I know that it is going to be slower than here, but I am concerned if it is long enough to make you go do other things.

It doesn't look like I have any control over this "feature".  I will report it to Lithium.

Thanks,
Laura

Well, the time is getting better (I reported earlier it took up to 90 seconds) but this morning I got 15 seconds on the first one.

Usually it's reasonably fast (on the order of one to two seconds), especially if the page is cached, but quite often it can take anywhere between 10 and 60 seconds, depending (I guess) on the time of day, the amount of traffic, which computer I'm using, other things I'm doing, etc. Anyway, I also sometime might do this because I want to do other things even if the load time is short (e.g. go handle LV code or an image file).

I didn't bench it, but my impression is that the slowest part is loading the reply window icons, but that might just be because there is a visual indication of progress there, sort of like an animated progress bar. Smiley Very Happy

We are currently communicating with Lithium about our worldwide forum performance and they have been investigating this issue.  I guess I could have said this in my first post Smiley Wink  but this way I can increase my post count.

Thanks,
Laura
