Is it possible to receive thread updates via RSS rather than email? I have quite a few email subscriptions, and would like to convert these to RSS (or at least configure new subscriptions to be RSS by default rather than email).

Hi Jack,
There isn't a way to default to RSS feeds instead of email, but it's a good suggestion so I'll pass it along.
To subscribe to a thread's RSS feed, you have to do it manually for each thread. You'll find the feature in the "Topic Options" menu at the top of the thread.
Thanks,
Laura

Thanks for the response, Laura.
And just to be clear that this feature request is fully constrained, it would be awesome to have one single RSS feed assigned to my user account ("My Subscriptions RSS Feed"), and all my thread subscriptions piped into that one feed. I believe the current platform's implementation has one RSS feed per thread, which is unwieldy from the RSS client's perspective (e.g., one is currently required to manage all these subscriptions in one's RSS reader du jour, whereas in this feature request, subscribing to a thread routes all thread updates into a consolidated RSS feed. Management of these subscriptions would happen in the forum preferences web interface, as email subscriptions are easily managed today, rather than in the client RSS reader).

I would prefer (and this request has been our top request for YEARS) if the site had a section which shows the unread activity in all the threads you participated in. This has the advantage of dividing the content into threads and of automatically marking the replies as read when you go and read them.
Of course, this could also benefit from also being available as an RSS feed, but I (and I think most active regulars) would prefer the latter. Laura, if you're going to push Lithium on anything, I would suggest that.

Excellent feedback, thank you both. I've submitted the suggestions to Lithium.
