During the last 15 days, there has been an undeniable tendency to chattering, without any clear contribution to the technical quality of the forum. This is NOT a criticism (I have my part here) and my opinion is that this behaviour is strongly desirable and should be encouraged. However, I believe that a special board should be devoted to these chats, and the stars given there should be counted separately, with a fourth golden bar awarded to the most deserving countributers (humor, social interest, philosophical deepness, you name it...).
According to previous posts, there seems to be a general agreement on the subject. May be somebody (Ben, Altenbach ?) could try to summarize the various opinions that have been presented.
Thatās all for today. See you next month !

Monsieur Charly,
C'est bien de considerer les canadiens francais, cajuns at acadiens
š(or should I say in native language) "C'est ben d'ta part de penser a nous autes"
šI feel that we do need a place to meet & chat. How else do we get to meet other contributers from around the globe? Now sharing a beer across the sceen may be a challenge, but I'm sure Dennis can whip up a vi for us that will do the job
šAs for an extra bar, I don't think it is necessary. We don't really need to rate humour and socializing... (well then again... maybe we should...
š )
The "chat room" should be open to anyone for a visit, there may be a Dennis jr. hiding inside a newbie somewhere..
I do agree that any rating done inside the chat room should not affect the score obtained from the regular forums. To me, I look at the excessive star-giving as a way to express that the star system is not perfect. Although supposidly "meaningless and insignificant", how does one feel about getting a 1-star rating... Let's not open that can of worms..
We know each other from contributions, whether questions or answers. The chatroom could be a place to actually get to know each other.. for instance : >>> SAY WHAT??? Dennis is married??? <<<
Some of us wander from one product to the next. I am now doing development in LabWindows-CVI, which means I'll be visiting that forum more often. (I will drop by for the occasional visit)
šI'd better stop before reaching the max word limit.
Thanks CC for the Enthusiast updates.
BTW, what is the "Evoluation" column?? Maybe I'll read your post again
šCheers,
Ray
