Nick, thanks for your reply

Yes : I have to rewrite most of the search&parse routines... something I would like to avoid 😞

Among the subtle differences, I noticed that the search engine can find LabVIEW or PDA but not the common terms of the english vocabulary. Is there some way to force an a e i o u search ?

I think I begin to understand what's going on (I read all the posts in this thread ;)) : the search engine has been modified to optimize the returned number of posts, eliminating the most common search terms, such as "the", "an", etc. Using "Re:" as search term returns an error instead of all the replies, probably because "Re:" has not been recorded as common term yet. That's undoubtedly a nice new feature, but, if there is no possible systematic search as before, I'm stuck with my present E-List search version...
One interesting thing is that NI or LabVIEW are considered as pertinent search words...
Here is a challenge idea : find the most efficient search string (has to fit in the "with one or more of the words" field) to retrieve the highest post number, using Dennis Knutson as reference contributor. My present score is 4678 (over +8000) 😄

Seems that the wildcard search does not work when used in the "with one or more of the words" field.

We are trying to get an answer to this burning question. I will definetly let you know as soon as possible since you work so diligently on the E-List and the community appreciates it so much. Some rewriting might be in order because the Advanced Search can't go back to exactly the way it was.
@chilly charly wrote:Another one : when an advanced search returns several pages of results, only the first page can be accessed. For instance search for "nose". Trying to load another page triggers an error message saying that the search returned no result. This seems to be related to an automatic uncheck of the "search the message field" box.Nick, could you comment and tell me if there is some chance to get these problems fixed in a near future ? Or should I start rewriting my E-List application ?

I have been subscribed to this for awhile now and I think if you want to OR something together just put "Modbus J1939". The other operators like AND, NOT etc. don't work in the search subscription. Multiple words are just ORed together and I think that is the only functionality it has.

Nick,
Thanks for the fix. But have noticed a problem -- it's probably related: under my profile, for the 'Subscription Search Query' I entered "Modbus OR J1939" (w/out the quotes). And I started getting notifications for messages with the word "or"! Is the search format different for that query?
Thanks,

New problem, Nick - when searching for something using the advanced search (maybe the regular too), sorting the results by one of the columns causes the Message Body checkbox to become unchecked for the new search, effectively preventing us from sorting the results.

Until recently, it was possible to search for all the post of a given contributor. Seems that this facility has been lost. Unfortunately, the E-List has been entirely based on this function, and I can't afford to rewrite the post search entirely. Can anybody tell me what's going on ?
