Give flag options to job openings forums on Discussion forums

NI could close that thread once the content of that thread became obsolete. To be frank, most of the people cannot go through the whole 5 page thread comments and replies. It wouldn't be appropriate to

put the whole blame on those who replied(though its odd to reply to a job opportunity posted almost 18 months back!!!)

I dont acceptthat going through 5 pages is difficult. There are lot of other ways to do it. One would be to just click on the user name of the original poster. Please remember almost all the info you get will be from that person. Primarily just check the last date visited. If the date visited by the job poster is say X/X2005, though the probability is not entirely zero but I will not try to reinvite him to the forum by posting my resume. This is what is frustrating.

I am with ray in saying no changes needs to be done considering people who dont pay attention.

Hi all,

I definitely see the problems you are describing in the Job Openings board.  However, I do not have a good way to address most of the issues.  When the person posting the thread contacts me to delete it, I do it.  I can also mark threads read-only, but that doesn't necessarily stop people from sending in their information for a filled position if contact information is given.

I wish I had better news.

Hi Laura,

As of Immediate remedy we could have a read only thread

and may be only the author can have permissions to add

details or edit.Going further we can have some more options

such as have form based entry for the employers with

all relevant details and have a timeline for each new thread after which

the thread cannot be editable or even be be able to add any further

information assuming the position  might have filled by then.

and mark the thread for position status if closed mandatory.

Regards,

Sundar.

Hi Sundar,

Often, people who post job descriptions fail to include pertinent information such as:

how to contact them

location

what they want people to do

full-time or contract

etc.

So it is good to have the ability to post replies in the threads.

It is possible that some people do not even bother to read the posts and try to reply to the first post in the thread not realizing that they are being made fun of...

All the replies to these threads shall be sent to the author only and not to the message board

To prevent people posting their resumes here which is not the

correct place to post their profiles.

That's why some of these fields shall be made mandatory for the employer

to avoid people end up asking same questions repeatedly.

The forums here should not allow to post a message

unless all the mandatory details are given,

hence  I would suggest a form based approach that's gives us this

flexibility
