NI Discussion Forum Upgrade - August 13, 2008

I am experiencing some serious issues trying to get into the forums thsi AM.

At home using IE7:

I used to short cut to get at my profile page but when I hit "login" it just timed out (I tried for about twenty minutes starting at 6:30 EST)

At work using IE6

Again I was not able to login.

Hit a link from the e-mail to get at the LV forum while another sesion was hung up after I hit the two warning message saying seucre site ....

But eventually the LV main board showed up and I was in.

Came to this thrad and tried to reply but the wait was so long I started to compose this message using notepad. Before I was done the reply screen I am using now showed up and I cut and pasted.

So what ever is serving the password functions is in serious bad shape this AM.

BTW:

Before leaving home I tried hitting NI.com and after a long time enough of it showed up that I could hit the link for the discusion forums but that timed out as well.

I have a 5M fiber link inot my basement that showed no problems with Goolge or LAVA so the issue appears to be on the NI side of the game.

Ben

PS after posting this message then hitting the link to get to my profile (top left corner) it took 2 minutes 35 seconds for that page to show up! Oh bother!

Sorry everyone,

I think we are still experiencing problems from the maintenance this weekend 😞

The problems affect most of the site and I also hope they are resolved soon.

Thanks,

Laura

Hi Everyone,

If you do not like the current location of the tag cloud on the board pages, you can move it to the bottom of the page.  Click the My Profile link and go to the preferences tab.  Scroll down to Display Settings and change Leaderboards Location to bottom:

This way, you can remove the tag clouds from the right side of the screen without having to disable tagging.

Thanks,

Laura

Hi Laura,

As I reported, the option to move the tag cloud to the bottom, does NOT work.

I just checked again and it still doe snot let me move the tag cloud to the bottom like it used to work.

Hi Ben,

The option I gave is for the board page where you see the listing of threads, not the thread page.  When you are looking at a specific thread, the tag cloud no longer displays at the bottom of the page, which is I think what you are referring to.  I've already reported that issue.  If there's something else you see happening, can you post a screenshot or give more specific information about what setting you are changing in your profile?

Thanks,

Laura

OK,

Changing the setting for the LEADER board and setting tagging back on does move the tag cloud to the bottom.

The settings for where to show the tags USED to control where I had my tags dsipalyed.

Who would ever have thought that changing the Leader board setting (whatever that is) affect the tag cloud postion!
