NI Discussion Forum Upgrade - November 2, 2007

Here's an updated bug list
  1. Messages not marked as read in IE6 and Safari when using Back button - reported to Lithium, they are looking into it
  2. "Sort Threads by Newest Message" turns itself back on
  3. Third attachment text is cut off in CC's posts (see image below) - this also seems to affect Ben's signature.  There was a limit on signature size causing the problem, it is now fixed.
  4. Reply numbers have changed.  The new method causes the reply numbers to not match up between viewing messages "Newest to Oldest" and "Oldest to Newest".
  5. Ratings:
    1. Not showing for threads at the board view
    2. Can rate posts again after a few minutes - the time limit is now much longer, but they can still be rated again eventually
    3. Stars don't show immediately after rating
  6. After replying, the browser returns to the message that was replied to, not the reply itself
  7. Floated Board order changed, with no apparent reason for the new order
  8. User's online status and last connection date is now missing - fixed
  9. Options button is white, can we change it back to black?
  10. Post page still loads slow (I don't think this is linked to the upgrade, but it is something Lithium is working on)
  11. Error message when clicking back before image is fully loaded.
  12. Scrolling on subscriptions page - is there a way to change the number of items displayed?  The new tab layout makes this awkward.
  13. Tracker - the "Threads I've Replied to" icon is not consistent.
  14. Subscription emails - Weekly Digest is not working as expected for Board subscriptions.
  15. Tab + Enter behaves sporadically - seems to be fine in Firefox, lots of problems in IE7 for sure.
  16. Time to edit a message - this is now a "strict" 5 minutes, meaning you need to complete your edit within 5 minutes of posting.  Before, you just had to click "Edit Message" within 5 minutes.  I think I have some control over this, but there are considerations due to our synchronization with newsgroups.  I will look further into this issue.
Thanks,
Laura

RayR,

I checked ni.com right after you posted that picture and did not see anything wrong.  I also did not hear anything here about us experiencing any trouble.  Did the homepage return to normal for you?

Thanks,
Laura

Yes it did.. Thanks.

As CC would say... it must be because I'm special

EDIT:  Speed is back to normal

LOL!

Not that it is serious nor annoying, but I see the bottom of CC's posts being chopped..

Laura,

I usually visit my profile page so I can check the all posts to see if any new posts to items that are not in bookmarks.

I noticed this new item on the main page but something is not right

But I am on-line!!!

Regards

Ray

Ray,

My worst fear is when I enter my bathroom in the morning. Is there a reflection of me on the mirror ?

Now I should also check if I'm connected or not !

Aaaahh !

Laura,

Problem with new Messages posted to the wrong forum.

Can the Select Board control be made so that you have to change it from a default setting <select require forum>  to the actual forum required before you can submit post.

What I have noticed is this control tends to take the setting of the last active forum, which maybe not be the actual forum you want to post to when sending a New message.

Regards
Ray

It's much worse. It seems this is also happening in the board view.

I only noticed it now in one of the private boards, but it's possible this also happened elsewhere. Again, you can see that two threads are not marked and one is.

I find this to be much more serious because when you open the tracker you know all the threads are yours. I use the board view to follow threads and I rely on these to know which threads I've already responded to.

The main NI.com web page is back to the "not-so-normal" stage again...

(maybe I should stay off the booze!  CC- stop sending me that French Wine!!)

Hi tst,

I asked Lithium about this when reporting it before and I think their answer makes sense - The first two threads in your screenshot you haven't actually replied to - you started them.  If you replied to either of those threads, then that triangle would show up as well.

Now, trying to apply that explanation to the tracker gets a little confusing, because it treats messages separately.  There, you only see the triangle if you have replied to that particular message, not the thread.

If you get a chance, test out my explanation in the private board and let me know how you feel about the behavior.  If we don't like the behavior, I can always put it in as a feature request.

Thanks,
Laura
