I just noticed that this morning as well. Strange I didn't notice the dates flowing into the next column until I just read your post. I still say the heart of the issue is limiting the width of the page.

Well, that's interesting, when I reported it last week I was told that this is an old issue 😞

I fully agree that having a fixed width is misguided.
I am OK having a minimum width at the current setting, but we should not be prevented from making the page wider. Any modern browser will allow it to keep looking good.

Just for fun. With Chrome on both monitors. (FF doen't play nice at the new client at all and we won't discuss I.E.)

That has been known to bug a few of us. I turn off that widget and use the envelope. Actually it is usually the notification email which lets me know that a new PM for me to ignore has arrived.

That's right: I went in my settings and disabled the component. I always use the notification by mail to be warned of PM.
Nevertheless, the widget should not show at all when viewing somebody else's profile.

You'll see it only if you've happen to have some user with a long name in the list.

Hi Chris,
Why is your browser window roughly twice the width of the page content?
Use case:
Usually users are encouraged to embed images/snippets in their forum posts (like here) - I appreciate this.
When the image is wider than the space/width used for the message text it gets scaled to fit that message box. This has been so in the old forum version, it's like that in the new forum version.
But:
By maximizing the browser window in the old forum version the message text box became wider and so the image often has been shown in it's unscaled version (without any scaling artifacts!). (As mentioned before I often use a FullHD screen, which can display images upto 1900×1000px unscaled.)
In the new forum version: wow, all images stay scaled due to fixed width! Now I have to right-click the image, select "Show graphics (in new tab)" in Firefox to get the image into a new tab to look at it in it's unscaled version…
Maximizing the browser window is just one click on the "maximize" window icon, a double-click on the window title bar - or even just a shortcut key. Now I have to use additional actions to look at images…

Just to add my thoughts, I really think the new maximum width thing is a bit silly. It feels quite 1990's to me...
