New notifications for old Kudos?

today I got this notification:

Oh, nice, I got a Kudo…

But wait: I can't remember writing to a thread about "adjacent array values". Let'' look into the thread and check the source of the Kudo:

Okay: I receive a notification for a nearly 7 year old Kudo???

Will this happen on a regular base?

I personally like reviewing my new kudo's in the notification once in a while particularly to see instances like this where there is an old thread I did something that people still find valuable. I do this so that I can review some of these old things that users are still finding (and finding useful). There has been several times that someone will kudo a multi year old post, I'll check it, and realize what I said then was useful, but things have changed and the information is a bit dated. So I will post another reply to myself giving more info and updating it.

your use case is surely useful: getting a notifiaction for a new kudo on an old post.

I wanted to give an update on this issue. We haven't been able to reproduce the issue, nor have we received any additional reports of this problem. However, we will continue to investigate this issue when priority allows. Please let us if you see this issue again.
