I am very sure that i have noted previously that the page rank used to be "Page not ranked" earlier.Before the maintanence. I am not saying it is someting to do with the maintanance.

I even saw the rank at 4 some days back.How is this working?Based on the number of hits?

That is something you will need to ask google about.  I don't use the google toolbar because I despise any extra toolbars being added to my explorer window.  But since it is part of the google toolbar, it must be some sort of evaluation they do.  It would have nothing to do with the forums or the maintenance.
