Removal of messages

Hi,

yesterday there was a vivid discussion in this thread.

I know we went slightly off-topic, but none of those messages were insulting (IMHO).

Suddenly about half of the messages in this thread vanished, including mine. The thread had more than 25 messages, no it only contains 17 messages after some more replies in the night.

My questions:

Will there be any notice (or PM) when messages are removed from the forum? (I didn't get one so far.)

What is the (official) reason to remove those messages?

I apologize for the missing post. It seems there were duplicate posts for this topic. In the midst of cleaning up the thread, some of the posts were archived. I have moved them back to the original thread.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I was wondering why catching up on that thread this afternoon I saw about 12-13 new messages even though I had seen almost all but the last 1 or 2.
